Nilgiri Hills · Ooty

Elevated
by Nature.

A café perched where the mist settles — named for the sure-footed animal that calls these cliffs home. Slow coffee, honest food, and a view worth the climb.

Chapter One

Somewhere above two thousand metres.

The Nilgiris — literally, the Blue Mountains — rise where the Western Ghats fold into cloud. Tea gardens ripple down every slope. Ancient shola forests hide in the folds of rock, and mist moves through the valleys like it owns the place.

It's a landscape that rewards patience. Cold mornings, slow light, and air that smells faintly of eucalyptus and rain. We built our café to feel like a small, warm pause inside all of that.

Chapter Two

Meet the Nilgiri Tahr.

Nilgiritragus hylocrius — a mountain ungulate found nowhere else on Earth. It moves along cliff edges too steep for almost anything else, calm and unhurried, as if the drop below simply isn't its concern. Tamil Nadu named it the state animal. We named a café after its nerve.

Our Philosophy

The tahr doesn't rush the mountain.

Every step is deliberate — sure, unbothered by the drop below. We like to think we brew the same way. Slow filter coffee. Hand-stretched dough. Chocolate tempered in small batches, one tray at a time. Nothing here is in a hurry to be anywhere else.

01 · Local

Grown in the hills

Coffee and tea sourced close to home, from the same slopes the tahr grazes above.

02 · Slow

Never rushed

From dough to fudge to filter coffee — made slowly, by hand, in small batches.

03 · Rooted

Belongs here

A café that feels like part of the mountain rather than something dropped into it.
